Lincs Majorettes and Dance School was formed in 2008 as a non profit making organisation, to help promote self confidence and baton twirling skills for all children in the community. The school started with just eight experienced members from previous troupes and 18 months later numbered over Eighty. During the start of the 2011 year we sadly saw a few of our members leave for various reasons, but as the year has progressed we have seen the numbers coming back up, and for competitions and displays in 2012 we will be presenting a very strong troupe presence once again.
We Teach Children From the age of 3 years up to adults and we offer lessons in Baton Twirling, Military Freestyle, and Pom Routines. The cost of lessons is £4.00 Per week (this covers the two lesson periods one on a Tuesday and the other on Fridays) and all money goes towards Costumes, Equipment, etc. for the troupe.
We Have Five Teams All Split Up Into Diffrent Ages:
Babies Team: Aged 3 to 6 Years.
Tots Team: Aged 7 to 9 Years.
Tinies Team: Aged 10 to 12 years.
Junior Team: Aged 13 to 15 Years
Senior Team Aged 16 and above (but is open age)
Lincs Majorettes has One Senior Trainer and Two Team Trainers : Tammy is the overall instructor for the troupe but she is currently out of the country working as a nanny. Until she returns the troupe are being taught by Shannen and Demi, they teach each section in Military Freestyle, Batons and Pom Routines. Shannen and Demi also spend a great deal of time throughout the year on one to one sessions with some of our dancers who wish to compete in Solo and Duet competitions that come up.
Lincs Majorettes has been open for almost three years now and many of our members have competed at National Level and have won many awards. The National Comps generally take place twice a year at The Primrose Valley Holiday Centre in Filey and are run by The Great Britain Baton Twirling Association (GBBTA). This is a hectic weekend for the kids, but is also exciting and good fun for our dancers and the families / friends who spend the weekends with us to support the troupe.
We also ussually enter the troupe for the Cleethorpes Carnival Parade held every July, were a number of the girls march behind a float we decorate up. This is quite good fun and the kids enjoy the day and so do most of our parents and supporters who come along and get involved with everything. they gained 3rd place in the Cleethorpes Carnival Parade 2008 and 1st Place in the 2009 Cleethorpes Carnival Parade and a second place in the 2010 parade.
The website will be constantly updated with new pictures and write ups on the schools progress.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of those businesses and individuals who have helped us out in the past Year with donations and Sponsorship. May Lincs Majorettes go from strength to strength.
